Last Days?
My Friends,
Thus far this blog has been regarding silly things like lamps in the garage, video games, 8 bit music, and babbling.
But no more.
Today I find myself excited. I find myself terrified. Today I realize that the very thing I have dreamed about for years may finally happen. And I'm not talking about the birth of my child, but the birth of a new era.
I digress.
Cambodia, 2005. Victims of a new "flu-like" virus are dying after high-fevers and seizures. After Death however, unlike your typical toe-taggers, these victims were found to be snapping back! Not really alive, but awake and violent. Reacting spasmodically to the restarting of their heart via the bursting of several glands including adrenal. For up to 2 hours postmortem, these people have violent outburst of inhuman strength. They appear to feel no pain as they are functioning sans nervous system. Sounds like the undead? Is the undead.
2009. Our country is failing. Our president wanted (demanded) change. His supporters wanted change. Well, things have changed. Our economy is in a state we haven't seen since the 20s. How do you fix an economy? Any politician can tell you the best way to make money is to start a war; but let's face it. In this day and age, a war isn't exactly going to get the popular vote. So how do you fix a dying economy? Save a dying people and charge them accordingly. How much are you willing to pay to save your loved one's life?
So that settles it, right? Sell a miracle cure. But wait... you can't make a cure if you have no disease. And you can't make money by curing people once everyone's cured.
Enter H1N1.
This "Swine Flu" came out of nowhere. People were dying. Everyone who didn't was afraid of dying. Someone save us. We need a cure.
Ta-da! Cure found! Jump in line to get your H1N1 vaccine. New health for the whole family at the low, low price of about 25 dollars per.
(Let's slow down here for a second and do the math. At about 25 dollars per shot, assuming that everyone got the vaccine, that's a gross income of $7,601,493,100. As far national deficit goes it's only a drop in the bucket. But that's assuming it all goes to the government.)
Late 2009.
President Obama reveals his new health plan and is scoffed at by a large amount of people. It would seem that he doesn't have is act entirely together. Something needs to jump start this baby. "What would make EVERYONE need socialized health care?" Good marketing? no. A firm handshake and a promise? probably not. National Pandemic? Now you're talking!
What better way to save a failing (social) health care plan than to induce illness on people who can't afford to cure themselves to due pre-existing financial crisis?
So the H1N1 vaccine goes into play. People everywhere are getting vaccinated.
But people are still dying. Some within as little as a month, others within 10 days! And some of those even AFTER receiving the vaccine. What happened to our miracle cure?
It is reported that the developers of the H1N1 vaccine (AstraZeneca, Sanofi-Aventis, Novartis, and GlaxoSmithKline) won't take the "miracle cure"; even withholding it from their own families.
Now, ask yourself. If you had just made the cure to an illness that was this generations "black plague", wouldn't you want your family to be among the first to be saved? Of course you would.

Trouble breathing, including rapid breathing.
Gray or bluish skin color
Not drinking enough fluids

Catch-up Time
It's been about a week since I've updated this thing.
3 tracks from the TMO 8bit album are done, including Kill Baby, Juanito, and Emo. I am overjoyed at the quality that is coming out of that thing. I can't wait to unleash it on the public.
Brian and I got together with this guy Paul from Newgrounds.com (themonarchproject.newgrounds.com) to create what will soon be "Bat-Ham." (A parody of the Batman series using fast food imagery and puns.) So far it's coming along nicely. I've got some basic motion screens finished like walk sequences and mouth shapes etc. As well as the majority of the character designs.
It's gonna be ace.

City of the Deadbolt
Lat night I was fortunate enough to finish reading S.D. Perry's "Resident Evil: Caliban Cove".
Much like the first book in the series "The Umbrella Conspiracy", it was a great read! This morning I will start into Book #3 "City of the Dead", which is an adaptation of Capcom's Resident Evil 2.
I purchased a deadbolt lock from Lowes yesterday as well. You may be asking yourself, "Why do I care that he bought a lock..."
Well, the answer is simple. That lock is going to become my new best friend in coming months. In 2 days, when my new lockpick set arrives, I will begin honing my skills as a lock-breaker. Wahoo!
I am happy to say that the final-draft of the script for my currently untitled graphic novel is finally complete. It's been a long time in the making, and I'm happy to say that I can finally begin casting and shooting the stupid thing. My plan is to be ready for comicon this next time around, though that may be a bit lofty. We shall see!

lockpicking
So last night James (my stepson) locked my wife and I out of our bedroom. Needless to say I was not entirely amused (except for the part where he tried to unlock it with a bike lock key... that was humorous).
So at that point it dawned on me: Why haven't I ever learned how to pick locks?
"Never again!", I said to myself. And I made a few purchases.
In the mail I have a new set of picks/tension wrenches. as well as a practice lock, and book on picking. I'm hoping this will be a fun thing to learn, though I have read many other people's rants and frustrations on the topic. We'll see how it goes.
I did learn today how to open a padlock with 2 paperclips. It's was disturbingly easy.
SO other than learning to be a hoodlum, not a whole lot is going on. My wife and I are still putting the finishing touches on the house, though I use the term "finishing touches" loosely.
We have a lot ahead of us, including wiring for new lighting, and a few full-on painting projects (murals, textures). It's all getting very exciting as the house begins to look more and more comfortable.

S-s-s-saturday.
I have started reading "Caliban Cove." Book #2 in S.D. Perry's Resident Evil Series. It's good so far, as was the first. The biggest difference so far is that this one is an original story. Unlike "The Umbrella Conspiracy", this one is NOT directly related to any of the games. It is however, still Capcom sanctioned, so I still expect greatness.
I wrote a song last night about the Obama Health Care Plan. It's called "Don't Want Your Blood Money." A Weezer-ish jam about... well... exactly that.

Wellness, Weekends, Wesker, and the World Trade
Sorry for the alliteration.... I don't know what got into me...
As the title presumes, I am, in fact, well again! Unfortunately my loving wife has now come down with the plague I brought into our home. Very unfortunate. And pregnancy makes it difficult to find any medication that won't harm our baby. Why is it so hard to find a cold medicine that isn't "multi-symptom"??
I read "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Conspiracy" ~ S.D. Perry
I have to say, it was a fantastic book. It reminded me of reading Jurassic Park, really. Lot's of fun. I'm headed to get the next book in the series ("Caliban Cove") today. Fingers crossed that it's just as good.
Upon completion of RE5, I found myself with a craving to dig out my old PS2 and replay the series. (Is it obvious yet that I'm on a Resident Evil kick lately?) All in all, it was a good game! A little easy, perhaps, compared to others in the series. There was a disheartening lack of decent puzzles, and the boss fights were a bit "mechanical". But in all fairness, a good story prevailed in this case.
I'm playing "Dead Space" now. I finished chapter 1 this morning, and I'm already losing interest. For a game acclaimed to be "Unforgettably scary" and "Terror in it's purest form", I find myself thinking: "In space, no one can here you yawn" The fact of the matter is that the game just isn't scary yet. Compared to some of it's peers (Doom 3, Silent Hill, Condemned), Dead Space has left me dead bored. I have yet to feel that sense of panic; that underlying "I simply don't have enough ammo." or "Omgomgomgomgomg" that are so essential to the survival horror series.
We'll See what happens I suppose. As I said before, I'm only midway through chapter 2. There is still time for redemption.
I was perusing /b/ yesterday and was met with a something that put a rather large smile on my face. A while back, in the living room of the apartment my wife and I used to live in, my friends and I came up with a new meme: Advice Bro. And what did I find? Why... a plethera of advice bro images that I didn't make! using my imagery! I was happy to see that I had actually contributed something to the internet. Mission accomplished. You're welcome.
On a less climactic level, it's 9/11. And inappropraite or not, the first thing that comes to my head when I hear that is that stupid animation of Will Smith dancing the towers down. *sigh*
On that note, happy Friday everyone.

Zombies and Illness
My brother and I are in the last chapter of Resident Evil 5. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not AT ALL like anything else in the series, but the story development and Bosses have been fun.
I'm still sick. been runnin a fever and coughing my lungs out all night. Maybe there is some connection?

Labor Day weekend
I got a lot more done this weekend than I thought I would, to be perfectly honest.
First and foremost, got a stencil done in the garage. Nothing fancy, but it was fun being that is was the first project of the new space.
So ther than making a terrible stencil, I set out yesterday to beat Resident Evil 5. I went into this task with the understanding that it was a severe let-down as far as other titles in the same series are concerned. To my surprise, however, in playing the game co-op with my little brother, i have found it to be rather enjoyable! And the story is as good as ever!
To close this post, I would like to inform you that I have a terrible cold. Liek the worst cold I have ever had. If Atila the Hun was a cold, he'd be working for my cold.
Also post will become more frequent, as i know have internet connection in my home.

Let there be light
Phase one of my studio renovation is complete! I got the lights up, and I have to say, I am quite satisfied.
As you can see that is about ALL that I have gotten done. Rest assured, however, I have plans for tonight! You can see in the lower left corner of the picture (below) that I purchased some drywall sheets. Those are going to conceal the plethora of junk and scattered remnants of our home's previous owner.
Can't wait!
On another note, this weekend I get to enjoy my first paid federal holiday off. So ace...

New House, New Studio
My wife and I just moved into our new house day before yesterday. FINALLY. It took all the energy myself and anyone else involved could muster, but it was worth it to get out of the slumlord alley we were in before.
It's a great house! You could fit 3 or 4 of our old apartment inside of it.
I'm turning the 2-Car Garage in back into a umm.... studio? I'll have a place to do as I please musically and artistically and not bother anyone with noise or odor! Wahoo!
Pictures will follow, naturally, as soon as I can get it in some semblance of what I deem presentable.
On a side not, anyone have any table lamps they want to send my way?
